Church Affiliation
Church And Ministry
Affiliation Network
Under the provisions of the extra-provincial Licenses and Federal Letters Patent, The ECC Consititution for Churches and ministries provides that "a church may join and become affiliated with The ECC fellowship of churches and house church networks while remaining autonomous in regards to government, polity, operation, and discipline" (1 Corinthians 5:5; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). This is affirmed in the Covenant of The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada.
The ECC offers post-secondary eduacational advantages from Waterloo Bible College educational network to help train our ministers in our churches to plant and grow in may areas of ministry.. We offer training in leadership and to church elders or deacons within the local church. We also offer training in areas that will help the local church plant daughter churches, small groups or house churches.
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada has no extra practices or rituals unique to them outside New Testament teachings. The ECC churches are congregational in nature and Bible-centre, and they ultimately strive to be as simmilar to the early church as possible, modeling their lives after their one true example - Jesus Christ, and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit into all truth. We offer many benefits and priviledges as an affiliate of the denomination.
Many of churches are seeking to release many into the fivefold ministry as the corner stone of their ministries. We offer an educational foundation to help introduce to them to the operations of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher as a part of the international network of The ECC.
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada's affiliated congregational Christian churches maintain control of their local church without the interference of central Office, but are accountable to The ECC. Congrgations are self-governing and calls its own pastor. The General Assembly will have freedom to set boundaries within their own churches if they should choose to affiliate with the denominational body. Each minister is under the auspices of the District Superintendent in their local District for encouragement, spiritual direction, and educational help. The District Superintendent reports directly to the General Superintendent. Each local congregation is free to structure worship as they choose without he control of Central Office. Frequency of the Lord's Supper and mode of Baptism are left to the discretion of the individual churches.
