ECC (Christian Disciples) Policy on homosexuality:
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada description of the church's policy towards homosexual behavior:
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada (Christian Disciples) views "homosexuality" as a behavior rather than as a sexual orientation. That is: "homosexuality" is something that a person does; it is not something that a person is.
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada and the true church of Jesus Christ is "unalterably opposed to all homosexual "activity" and "behavior."
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada believes that homosexual behavior is "inconsistent with New Testament Christianity and that attempts to legitimize such behavior by corrupting the Holy Scriptures.
The Evangelical Christian Church views all homosexual behavior as sinful before a Holy God, whether it is engaged by a person who is single or in a committed relationship.
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada believes that homosexuals or lesbians are WELCOME to attend church service; however, they are NOT eligible for "church membership, for ordination to the Gospel ministry or to hold elective or appointive office."
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada condemns "anything less than love, compassion, kindness and mercy towards the gay and lesbian community. We renounce violence or malicious behaviour performed against gays and lesbians. We believe that God is ABLE to fully deliver a person from the practice and the inclination of homosexuality with the gospel of grace.
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada does not support, endorse or condone same-sex civil unions or accept, bless, sanction or recognize such unions or marriages.
